I grew up in San Marcos, Texas to a family of five. After graduating from San Marcos High School, I went to Mary-Hardin Baylor to play soccer. After deciding that was not the educational experience that I wanted to have, I transferred to Southwest Texas Univerisity, now known as Texas State. There, I was fortunate enough to participate in two study abroud trips. One independent study in the Yucatan of Mexico and land use study of Germany. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Geography.

After that, I moved to the Yuctan Peninsula where I taught at the Instituto Cultural de Oriente in the tourism department. I fell in love with teaching there and when I moved back to the United States I decided to persue a teaching certifiacte. I worked Friday-Monday manifesting tandem and free jumpers at Skydive San Marcos. During the week, Tuesday-Thursday I was substituting and tutoring in San Marcos CISD and Hays CISD. I got my first domestic educational position at Chapa Middle School where I was assigned to teach 8th US history, ESL, girls athletics and coached volleyball, basketball, and soccer.

Three years later, I moved on from traditional schooling to the KIPP charter school system. I was at KIPP Austin Becon Prep in Dove Springs for three years. While employed with them I designed a non-fiction reading class, a non-fiction writing class, designed curriculim for the district, facilitated and designed restoritive justice practices and was a grade level chair.

Now, I am fortunate enough to still be in Dove Springs teaching our kiddos at Mendez Middle School. I love being active outdoors by going to festivals, playing soccer and spending valuble time with family and friends. My classroom door is always open. Please feel free to stop by any time as an observer or a guest speaker. I love eduation and I believe that our kids are the change that we want to see in the world. It is our jobs as elders to show them what it is to work hard and be nice.

I grew up in the awesome river town of San Marcos. Growing up I was always barefoot and playing outside. I had a love for animals, the environment and sports throughout my youth. I started playing soccer when I was 8 years old and never stopped. The water still mesmerized by the purity of flowing water. It calms me and allows me to esape.

My family is always in my thoughts. I am very close to them. Not only are my family members are important but so are my friends. I only have a few that I consider to be close to me, and those, I consider family. In addition to that, I love my students. I treat them as if they were my own and my priority is that they are happy, curious and kind.

I became a teacher because I wanted to save the world. Since I was a little girl, I always wanted the world to be a happy place and I still believe that. Once I travelled and explored the world, I became more knowledgeable about individuals education. I discovered that the world can only be better than it already is, if people are educated enough to make changes to improve. Education is the way to change the world and it starts with me, you and our youth.
